A Celebration of Light! ✨
5.15 pm: Amesbury Mid-Winter Lantern Parade: Departing from Amesbury Central Car Park to Amesbury Abbey spring to find the Solstice Lantern (lit at Stonehenge at sunset) & celebrate the end of the dark nights. The walk is approximately 1 mile and involves uneven slippery ground – participants do so at their own risk and should dress appropriately.
Lanterns can be purchased for £5 from Amesbury filling station & Amesbury History Centre in the weeks leading up to the event although you can still join the procession without a lantern. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own lanterns.
Registration is a requirement, even though it is a FREE event. You can register on the Amesbury History Centre website: https://www.amesburyhistorycentre.org.uk/events
It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the return of longer days and the end of the dark nights!
